Mission Statement and Vision
The mission of the Riverside County Swift Performance Track and Field Team is to provide youth in the Inland Empire an opportunity to compete on the Local, State, and National level in Track and Field. While it is the intent of Swift to expose these children to a higher level of competition, the Swift staff also prides itself in providing mentorship and a healthy environment in which it's members strive to become the best young adults they can be."
The Riverside Co. Swift Performance Track and field Team is a youth track and field team with participants ranging from 5-18 years old serving Moreno Valley, Perris, Riverside and the entire Inland Empire.
Founded in January 03, 1997, the team is operated by Lori and Donn Thompson (President/Vice President respectively), who are former Olympic qualifiers of the 1980 and 1984 United States Olympic Teams. The team creates a positive atmosphere for young children in the community, a program that would challenge them athletically and at the same time promote a sense of responsibility, commitment and self-esteem, to themselves and others. The character building program is one of Amateur Athletics that exclusively fosters national and international amateur track and field competition. The program primarily trains, track and field athletes to participate in USA Track and Field officially sanctioned meets held throughout Southern California.
Every athlete who joins the team is allowed to participate in training and meets, regardless of individual ability. Each child is required to train at a near by facility (ie) the nearest high school facility upon approval of the school district office, approximately 3-4 times a week and participate in all required fund raisers.. Track and field competitions which are held on Saturday's and Sunday's are arranged by the USA Track & Field Southern California Association. All practice location are insured by the USA Track & Field Southern California Association, which is paid for through team membership with an additional cost for location sites. Athletes will be able to participate in all scheduled meets, as well as those qualifying for national and international competition such as the "Age Group Nationals" or "Junior Olympics".
